Assistant manager Osian Roberts has backed Kit Symons to make a "seamless" return to Wales' backroom staff.

Having initially succeeded Symons with Wales, Paul Trollope will leave to concentrate on leading Cardiff City.

Symons left Chris Coleman's set-up to concentrate on what turned out to be a short stint in charge of Fulham.

"It makes sense that Kit comes back into the fold because he knows the system, he knows how we work," Roberts told BBC Wales Sport.

Symons is set to return to the coaching set-up ahead of the opening qualifier against Moldova on 5 September, having been involved in the early part of the successful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

"He was an integral part of it and now there's an opportunity for him to come back into it and obviously he'll be a great addition once again," Roberts added.

"The important thing for us is it's seamless.

"It doesn't affect what we do and we keep striving to improve and no doubt Kit will do that."

Former Portsmouth and Crystal Palace defender Symons has acknowledged Wales will face the pressure of expectation after reaching the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

Wales will also face Austria, Serbia, the Republic of Ireland and Georgia in World Cup qualifying group D.

Trollope was a member of former Bluebirds boss Russell Slade's coaching team when he was appointed to the Wales role.

Roberts says Trollope's need to concentrate on their forthcoming Championship campaign is "a natural development".

"When you're a manager at a Championship club, it means that you have to give your heart and soul 100% attention to the task," said Roberts.

"So we fully understand that, as Kit did with Fulham."
