Rangers have been busy of the summer, with nine new signings, but manager Mark Warburton still fancies another couple.

"We're looking for another attacking option and another defending option," he said.

"But we're in no panic for it. The squad is in good shape and the fitness levels are good."

Dundee 'powerless' over Hemmings sale

Hemmings had two years to run on his contract at Dens Park

Dundee manager Paul Hartley has revealed that the Scottish Premiership club were powerless to stop Kane Hemmings moving to Oxford United after a sell-on clause in the striker's contract was met.

The 24-year-old Englishman had scored three goals in the opening two games of the season before Wednesday's switch for an undisclosed fee.

Hemmings' 25 goals last season led to him being nominated for the PFA Scotland player of the year award.

Leigh Griffiths hailed on-loan Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts for setting him up for Celtic's equaliser against Astana.

The 19-year-old won possession near the bye-line before finding the striker in the 1-1 draw in first leg of their Champions League qualifier in Kazakhstan.

Dons confident for Maribor test

Aberdeen's Graeme Shinnie has expressed confidence in his side as they prepare to host Maribor in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier on Thursday.

The Dons are the last remaining of three Scottish clubs who started this season's competition following exits by Edinburgh pair Hearts and Hibernian.

Maribor have a good record against Scottish sides in European competition, with Celtic, Rangers and Hibs all being knocked out by the Slovenians in recent seasons.

Transfer news

Edinburgh City have signed former Scotland and Celtic striker Craig Beattie.

The 32-year-old was with Stirling Albion last season, scoring six goals in 23 appearances.

Goalkeeper Calum Antell, formerly with East Stirlingshire and East Fife, is also joining up with the League Two newcomers.

Accies avoid embarrassment

Hamilton Academical recovered from 2-0 down to beat Scottish League Two newcomers Edinburgh City 4-2 and avoid a shock Scottish League Cup defeat.

But Highland League champions Cove Rangers did spring a surprise, with a 3-0 thumping of League Two outfit Montrose.

On-loan Hearts striker Nikolay Todorov scored on his Cowdenbeath debut as the Blue Brazil defeated League Two rivals Arbroath.
