Luke Varney: Ipswich Town re-sign striker on short-term contract

Luke Varney made 20 appearances last season in all competitions, but started only four games

Championship side Ipswich have signed striker Luke Varney on a contract until January, having released him at the end of last season.

Varney made 20 appearances for the Tractor Boys last term after joining on a short-term deal in December.

The 33-year-old also previously played 12 games for the club during a two-month loan spell in 2015.

Ipswich began the Championship season with a 4-2 opening day win over Barnsley at Portman Road.
