Former Hibernian striker Farid El Alagui has signed for Dunfermline Athletic until January.

The 31-year-old was released by the Pars' Scottish Championship rivals at the end of last season.

And Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston had said he was interested in signing the French-born striker if he could prove his fitness.

Injury problems had restricted El Alagui's appearances for Hibs to 21 over two seasons at Easter Road.

The striker scored five times for Hibs and also netted three times for Dundee United in 15 appearances on loan from Brentford while the Terrors were in the top flight.

El Alagui, who also has Moroccan nationality, first came to the UK in 2011 to join Falkirk from French amateur club Romorantin.

Eighteen goals in 33 appearances for the Bairns led to a move to Brentford, where he scored nine goals in 30 outings for the English League One outfit.
