Scotland suffered a heavy European Under-21 Championship qualifying defeat by Ukraine in Kiev.

The Scots' hopes of reaching next year's finals had all but ended after Friday's 1-0 home loss to Macedonia.

Andriy Blyznychenko scored Ukraine's opener midway through the first half and Artem Besedin netted twice in eight second-half minutes.

Andriy Boryachuk converted a late penalty after John Souttar was sent off for fouling the forward in the box.

Ricky Sbragia's side remain on eight points after eight games - sitting fifth in the six-team group, while Ukraine now have 10 points and climb to fourth.

Group winners progress to the finals while the four best runners-up go into play-offs for the final two spots.
