Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance 'not worried' about relegation threat

Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says he is confident his side will not get relegated from Isthmian League Division One South, despite their poor form.

Guernsey are fourth-from-bottom having won just twice in 12 games and have lost their last three games, including a 6-1 loss at Hastings United.

"I'm not worried about it because our home form is generally good," he said.

"But the warning signs are there, and if we go down we go down because we deserve to," Vance told BBC Guernsey.

Guernsey have been in the eighth tier of English football since they won promotion from the Combined Counties League in 2013.

After being founded in 2011 they won two successive promotions and reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase.

They also made the promotion play-offs in their first season in the Isthmian League after finishing fourth in the table.

But since then results have tailed off, in part due to their poor away form - the Green Lions have not won a league match off the island since December 2015 - with Vance struggling to find players who are able to commit to time away from home and work.

"I've got every confidence we won't go down," he added.

"Ultimately we're in a really good league, we're certainly capable of getting out of the mess we're in, but we've got to do that and words can be cheap so we've got to deliver."
