Aberdeen: Derek McInnes thinks 50-50 split is fair for League Cup final tickets

Manager Derek McInnes thinks it would be "a disgrace" if Aberdeen do not receive an equal ticket allocation for the League Cup final against Celtic.

The Dons will return to Hampden on 27 November after beating Morton at the national stadium on Saturday.

"We're already having to go down to Glasgow to play Celtic in their city," said McInnes.

"Parity must be seen to take place - a split down the middle; 50-50. We could sell our allocation twice over."

A disappointing crowd of 16,183 watched Aberdeen's 2-0 win over Championship side Morton, with the north east club having voiced displeasure with a 12:15 BST kick-off.

McInnes was quick to point out that the Dons took around 40,000 fans to Celtic Park when they last won the League Cup - against Inverness CT in 2014.

"Common sense should prevail," he added. "Anything other than 50-50 would be a disgrace in my view."

Aberdeen and Celtic will discuss the ticket allocation this week, with the Scottish Professional Football League intervening if an agreement cannot be reached.

McInnes is sure the prospect of a cup final will provide a lift for his players and the club's support.

"Whatever opponent we got it was always going to be a mouth-watering cup final and something we wanted to be part of," he added.

"The fact that it's Celtic, we can look forward to that and hopefully go into it on some good form. But a full house at Hampden in a cup final is the sort of game you want to be involved in.

"I'm really looking forward to being 90 minutes away from a trophy."
