Guernsey FC goalkeeper Chris Tardif would like to help coach the island team while he recovers from injury.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper will miss the rest of the season after breaking both bones in his right leg last month.

He will miss the Muratti and 2017 Island Games, having helped Guernsey win gold in Jersey last summer.

"I've spoken to Tony (Vance, Guernsey FC manager) about the Island Games and the potential of travelling as some part of the management group," he said.

The former Portsmouth and Oxford United player has been a key part of Guernsey FC's success since the club was formed in 2011.

He will not need surgery on the injury, and says he is ready to help his teammates as they fight at the bottom end of the Isthmian League Division One South.

"Just because I'm sitting at home doesn't mean I'm not involved," he told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"I'm trying to pass my wisdom onto the guys to try and keep the mood up in the camp.

"I hope I can be at the training ground in a few months time and just help out, watch over training, give them a few pointers and be there for moral support.

"I want to play as big a part as possible," he added.
