Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance prepared to fight relegation again

Defeat for relegation rivals Chatham last weekend secured Guernsey FC's survival

Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says there would be "nothing wrong" with his side battling to stay up in Isthmian League Division One South "year on year".

The Channel Island club have lost their past three matches but were ensured of safety with two games to spare.

"Mid-table finishes year on year perhaps would get a little bit boring," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"What we've got to try and do is survive for the next couple of years - we have to be realistic on that front."

The Green Lions play their final game of the season in the eighth tier away at Greenwich on Saturday.

The club, founded in 2011, gained promotions in its first two seasons but has now spent four seasons at this level.

"Anything better than what we've achieved this year will be a bonus I think over the next couple of years," added Vance.

"Then really it's a question of then trying to push on a little bit further - if pushing on means that we push for play-offs, that's fantastic.

"[But] if it means that we're struggling to fight relegation year on year there's nothing wrong with that - this is real football."
