Truro City boss Lee Hodges 'chuffed to bits' as side secure safety

Truro City manager Lee Hodges said he was "chuffed to bits" after his side sealed National League South safety with a 2-1 win over Hemel Hempstead.

Goals from Niall Thompson and Andrew Neal left them four points clear of the relegation zone with one game left.

"It is pleasing that we haven't taken it to the last game," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"You could hear them screaming and organising, and I thought they were excellent - everyone deserved it."

As the final whistle went at Treyew Road, Truro were not mathematically safe, but Gosport conceded a stoppage-time equaliser which condemned them to the drop.

"It's been a very long season and I think I can sleep well," added Hodges. "I'm chuffed to bits for everyone at the club, for the supporters, to the chairman and to the players.

"We get next week out of the way then I'll sit down with the chairman and then we prepare again."

Asked if he will be in charge of the Cornish side next season, Hodges replied: "Yes, 100%, unless I'm told otherwise I've got another year here and I'm looking forward to next season."
