Port Vale 0-1 Notts County

Substitute Lewis Alessandra scored with his first touch of the game to secure a win for Notts County at Port Vale.

Alessandra's second league goal of the season means his side are now unbeaten in their last four league games.

In a fairly even first half, Magpies defender Dan Jones' free-kick hit the wall on 23 minutes and rebounded out to Jorge Grant who shot over.

Vale nearly took the lead just a minute later when David Worrall received the ball in a lot of space in the visitor's area, but his shot hit the post as the sides went in at half-time goalless.

The first chance of the second half fell to Vale defender Gavin Gunning, who headed debutant Harry Middleton's corner towards goal after 56 minutes but former Valiant Jones cleared the ball off the line.

The visitors took the lead after 67 minutes when a cross from Grant was met by the boot of substitute Alessandra, who placed his shot past keeper Rob Lainton, whose side could not find a reply.
