Birmingham's Aoife Mannion pulled one back from the spot in first-half stoppage time

A stoppage-time equaliser from Birmingham City's Emily Westwood saw them fight back from 2-0 down to draw at Reading in Women's Super League One.

Brooke Chaplen's penalty and Jade Moore's strike had put Reading two up.

But the visitors halved the deficit with Aofie Mannion's spot kick after Harriet Scott had fouled Emma Follis.

Birmingham improved after the break and snatched a point with the final act of the game as Westwood turned in Hayley Ladd's deep free-kick.

The result left both sides with four points from their first three games of the 2017-18 season.

Reading manager Kelly Chambers: "We need to move on, we can't do anything about this game now so we have to move on, we need to get on the pitch and we need to keep working.

"We've got an international break a big chunk of the team are away, so we will take it into consideration.

"We will look at how we build, but once they are back in we will be ready for Bristol City."

Birmingham City midfielder Jess Carter: "We wanted to come here and get three points, that was our game plan from the start.

"We could have done better with the goals we conceded, but to come here and to come back from 2-0 down, that's exceptional from us and showed great team spirit to get that goal in the last minute, we will take that.

"I don't think they created many clear-cut chances where our keeper needed to make a save, it was a physical game, second half we should have shut them down and got to the ball quicker, aside from that I don't think they were any better than us."
