Fraserburgh excited by Rangers tie in Scottish Cup fourth round

Fraserburgh manager Mark Cowie says "the roof came off" when his gathered players celebrated drawing Rangers in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

The Highland League outfit, who beat Spartans in round three, were given a home match against Premiership Rangers on 20 or 21 January.

The tie was the third-to-last one drawn on Monday afternoon.

"When our name came out the hat we were all collectively screaming at the TV for ball number 29," Cowie said.

"When it was pulled out and we knew we had Rangers, the roof came off.

"We knew that winning on Saturday gave us the opportunity to go in with the big guns; you just pray you'll get a big tie.

"We're all about history at this club. We've had some big games in the past but this goes right up there - something for everybody in the town and club to look forward to.

"The players are all part-time - some of the players will be trying desperately to make sure they're not working on the Saturday morning of the game.

"There's always an upset, I've said that from day one. Every round has an upset. It will be very difficult of course, but you never, never know."

Fraserburgh's Bellslea Park has a capacity of 3,000 and Cowie hopes the Broch can keep the tie at their usual home, but is aware it is not guaranteed.

"That's something for the chairman and the board to decide whether we can or not," he added on BBC Radio Scotland.

"We'd love for the town to play the game here but I totally understand if it's more beneficial for us if it was moved.

"We'll just enjoy the draw for a couple of days and let the guys above me decide what happens going forward."
