League One strugglers Bury have appointed Scunthorpe assistant manager Chris Lucketti as their new boss on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 46-year-old takes over from veteran striker Ryan Lowe, who had been in caretaker charge since the dismissal of Lee Clark on 30 October.
Lucketti spent six seasons as a player with the Shakers, making 235 league appearances between 1993 and 1999.
Bury are currently bottom of the table with 16 points from 19 matches.
They beat league leaders Shrewsbury on Tuesday and are now only three points behind Gillingham in 20th place.
Lucketti, who also had spells with Halifax, Huddersfield, Preston and Sheffield United as a player, will be undertaking his first permanent managerial position.
He took charge of Fleetwood for two games in October 2015 after Graham Alexander was sacked, before again joining up with Alexander at the Iron in June 2016.
His first game as Bury boss will be Saturday's fixture at fellow strugglers Northampton.
