Eastleigh have appointed Andy Hessenthaler as their new manager, with Richard Hill moving to a full-time director of football role.

A statement released on Monday announced the restructuring at the 18th-placed National League club.

Former Gillingham and Leyton Orient boss Hessenthaler, 52, was named Hill's assistant at the start of the season.

"Now seems a logical time to make the change," said Eastleigh chief executive Mark Jewell.

"There is a lot to do, both on and off the pitch, and I very much look forward to working with them both, in their new roles."

The Spitfires, who travel to fifth-placed Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, are winless since 28 October.
