Bartosz Bialkowski: Ipswich Town goalkeeper signs new three-year contract

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski has signed a new three-year contract with the Championship side.

The 30-year-old Pole has made 130 appearances for the Tractor Boys since joining from Notts County in 2014.

Bialkowski's previous deal was set to expire next summer, and he will now remain at Portman Road until 2021.

He has been Ipswich's first-choice goalkeeper this season, ahead of Dean Gerken, starting all but one of their 28 league matches.

Speaking about previous interest from Crystal Palace, boss Mick McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk: "All of us would've been interested in joining a Premier League club, so I never knock players for that.

"He's come, says he wants to sign, he's happy here and I'm delighted - I would imagine all the fans are."

'McGoldrick might want to leave with me'

Meanwhile, McCarthy says David McGoldrick's agent has been "spoofing" to try to "create" interest in the striker.

The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international is out of contract in the summer, with the Tractor Boys' manager in the same position.

"Marcus (Evans, Ipswich owner) has had a number of calls, but it's all his agent spoofing," McCarthy said.

"He's just ringing around and trying to create a deal when there isn't one, as much as anything."

Asked whether he had told the club's owner that he wants McGoldrick to stay, McCarthy jested: "He might want to leave with me.

"We could leave hand in hand out the golden gates here, couldn't we?"
