Adam Rooney scored a hat-trick as Salford romped to victory over Aldershot at the Peninsula Stadium to move up to second in the National League.
Ammies captain Rooney handed the hosts an early lead as he tapped home Ibou Touray's cross just two minutes in.
Salford top scorer Rooney completed his brace 10 minutes before the break in similar fashion as he slotted Touray's assist in from close range at the far post.
The home side made it three just a minute into the second half after Carl Piergianni's dangerous header from a corner was not made safe and Rory Gaffney got the last touch.
Rooney added the gloss and completed his treble with a 65th-minute penalty after Tom Walker was brought down in the box, taking his tally to 15 National League goals this season.
Salford are now unbeaten in 17 league games and are a point behind league leaders Leyton Orient.
