Braintree remain nine points from safety in the National League despite Callum Morton celebrating his 19th birthday with a hat-trick as they beat 10-man Barnet.
The Bees were up against it from the fourth minute when goalkeeper Mark Cousins was sent off for a foul on Morton, who converted the resulting penalty.
Cameron James headed against the crossbar for the hosts before Morton smashed in a second in the 32nd minute.
The striker completed his treble on the hour mark, converting from the spot again, and Iffy Allen netted a late fourth on his debut.
