Tranmere Rovers 2-1 Milton Keynes Dons
- Published
Tranmere Rovers kept their automatic promotion challenge alive and damaged MK Dons' own hopes with an impressive victory at Prenton Park.
David Perkins gave Rovers the lead after half an hour, only for Kieran Agard to restore parity two minutes later.
But Connor Jennings headed home the winner 28 minutes from time, moving the Birkenhead club to within two points of the automatic places, as Milton Keynes dropped out of the top three.
There was little to choose between the two sides, but when the Dons failed to clear a corner they could do nothing to prevent Perkins volleying home from the edge of the box.
Agard's close-range header from the dangerous Jake Hesketh's right-wing cross pulled the visitors level.
However, despite losing Perkins to injury, it was the hosts asking all of the questions after the break.
Preston loanee Ben Pringle provided a beautiful cross for Jennings to head home the winner, meaning high-flying Tranmere have won nine of their last 12 matches.
