Joe Jacobson has scored three goals so far this season

Left-back Joe Jacobson scored a hat-trick as Wycombe beat Lincoln 3-1 to move to the top of League One.

Jacobson scored a 20-yard free-kick within five minutes and then his 36th-minute corner went in via Michael Bostwick on the line.

Then, after John Akinde had pulled one back on 50 minutes, Jacobson did it again direct from a 75th-minute corner with Lincoln keeper Josh Vickers well beaten.

The convincing victory ensured Wycombe moved to their highest league position in their 132-year history.

Lincoln were missing players due to injury and international duty and it showed with Wycombe dominating throughout, with Jacobsen's double giving them a 2-0 half-time lead.

Wycombe's victory was tempered by concerns over Matt Bloomfield, who was carried off on a stretcher following a clash of heads

Tyler Walker hit a post for the Imps shortly after the break but there was controversy after Danny Cowley's men pulled themselves back into the game.

Wycombe's Matt Bloomfield and Lincoln's Bruno Andrade were down inside the penalty area with head injuries but play continued as half-time sub Akinde converted Jorge Grant's cross.

Bloomfield was down on the floor for nearly nine minutes before being carried off on a stretcher, but it is understood he did not need to go to hospital.

After Jacobson netted his third, Wycombe came close to a fourth during 13 minutes of injury time with Nick Freeman's chip coming back off the bar.
