Jordan Jones and Michael Smith have been ruled out of Northern Ireland's games against Luxembourg and Germany.

Jones left Ibrox on crutches after making a reckless tackle in injury-time on Moritz Bauer during Rangers' Old Firm defeat to Celtic on Sunday.

The former Kilmarnock wide man was shown a straight red card for the challenge.

Hearts defender Smith has dropped out of the squad with a hamstring injury.

Liam Boyce remains a doubt after picking up an injury while playing for English League One side Burton Albion.

The striker was substituted with a hamstring problem in Albion's 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

"Liam [Boyce] is with us and he'll be monitored this week," said Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.

Northern Ireland play Luxembourg in a friendly on Thursday at Windsor Park before taking on the Germans at the same venue in a crunch Euro 2020 qualifier on Monday.

Striker Paul Smyth withdrew from the squad last week with injury and was replaced by Linfield's Shayne Lavery.

O'Neill's side are top of Group C, having won all four of their opening qualifying matches home and away to Estonia and Belarus.
