Oxford United 3-0 Gillingham

In-form Oxford crushed Gillingham to make it 16 goals without reply in their last five games.

The U's carried on from where they left off in Wednesday's 4-0 Carabao Cup demolition of West Ham by racing into a three-goal lead inside 34 minutes.

James Henry lofted a 20-yard shot over goalkeeper Jack Bonham in the 10th minute after good work from Alex Gorrin.

Bonham then produced fine saves from Ben Woodburn and John Mousinho but he could do nothing to stop Matty Taylor's low left-footed drive after he ran on to Henry's pass in the 30th minute.

And four minutes later Henry sent a flicked header high into the net from Josh Ruffels' cross for his sixth goal of the season.

Only the post denied Henry a hat-trick before the break as rampant Oxford sought to build on their lead.

Early in a quieter second half Gillingham substitute Olly Lee also struck the woodwork after Oxford goalkeeper Simon Eastwood went walkabout from his goal then lost possession.
