Plymouth Argyle 3-0 Macclesfield Town

George Cooper scored two second-half goals as Ryan Lowe's promotion-chasing Plymouth beat struggling Macclesfield 3-0 at Home Park.

With nine games remaining, Argyle are now within a point of new leaders Crewe after Swindon faltered.

Cooper's ball over the top set striker Ryan Hardie clear after 33 minutes and the Blackpool loanee scored his seventh Argyle goal in 13 games by deftly chipping the bouncing ball over goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell.

Cooper made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Teed-up by playmaker Danny Mayor, the full-back slammed the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

The 23-year-old then doubled his tally with a sublime finish after 77 minutes, finding the bottom corner from distance.

It was no more than Lowe's rampant Greens deserved as Hardie had an effort - which appeared to cross the line - not given by match referee Chris Sarginson on the hour.
