Ryan Taylor made it two goals from two League Two games to give Newport County victory over Barrow.

The summer striking recruit seized on a defensive mistake to send the ball past visiting goalkeeper Joel Dixon.

Liam Shephard had given Newport an early lead with his first goal for the Exiles, after Barrow failed to deal with a Ryan Haynes cross.

Barrow levelled before half-time thanks to Lewis Hardcastle's screamer from the edge of the area.

Newport manager Michael Flynn told BBC Sport Wales:

"I thought we were quite sloppy first half if I am honest. We were looking to play good football and we played some really good stuff but I spoke to them at half-time, every single one of the back five made an individual error before half-time.

"That gives the opposition a chance to get some impetus. The goal we gave them was poor.

"But I thought second half was a very professional performance. We carried on playing football which was pleasing.

"It's gone from a good start (to the season) to a very good start, but it's just the beginning. There's a lot of hard work to do."
