David Wheater & Gary Woods: Oldham say pair 'no longer part of first-team squad'
- Published
Oldham Athletic have said defender David Wheater and goalkeeper Gary Woods will no longer be part of the first-team squad.
The Latics said that "the decision has been made to ensure the football club can now focus on the season ahead".
Representatives of the two players responded by claiming the League Two club is putting "undue pressure" on the pair to break their contracts.
Wheater, 33, made 35 appearances last season, while Woods played 16 times.
Neither have played any minutes for Oldham at first-team level this season.
