Ayr United 2-1 Queen of the South: Michael Miller double for hosts
- Published
Both sides finished with 10 men as Ayr United beat Queen of the South in their Scottish Championship opener at Somerset Park.
Defender Michael Miller scored twice, but Stephen Dobbie's penalty got the visitors back into the match.
But Queen's James Maxwell received a second yellow card for simulation to hurt their chances of claiming a point.
In stoppage time, Ayr midfielder Luke McCowan was also dismissed for another booking.
And, in the dying seconds, Ayr goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo made sure of all three points with a brilliant reaction save from Gregor Buchanan's point-blank header.
