Newport County extended their lead at the top of League Two to four points with a 2-0 away win at Grimsby Town.

Midfielder Scott Twine got his second goal in four league games after 25 minutes at Blundell Park.

And in first-half stoppage time Padraig Amond converted from the spot after Danny Rose conceded a penalty.

Substitute Owen Windsor crashed a strike off the Newport bar in the second half as Grimsby fought back but the visitors held on for three points.

Grimsby remain in 20th with defeat, two points above the relegation zone.
