A double from Osman Sow helped Dundee overcome Alloa Athletic and move up to third in the Scottish Championship.

The visitors took the lead when Steven Hetherington pounced on a mistake to fire low into the corner.

But Sow netted either side of Liam Fontaine's header, first turning in Christie Elliot's cross before latching on to Jordan McGhee's pass to fire in.

The win puts James McPake's men above Raith Rovers ahead of the visit of leaders Hearts on Saturday.

Dundee are now 10 games unbeaten at home in all competitions, while Alloa slip to ninth, two points clear of bottom spot.

Dundee manager James McPake: "Every time we play Alloa it's a challenge and I've got huge respect for what Peter Grant does. We showed a different side to us in coming from behind - showing character and bravery. Osman Sow's body holding up was the only issue with him. When he plays like that, he's unplayable."

Alloa manager Peter Grant: "The equalising goal came from our free kick which was disappointing. At 1-1 we had a great opportunity with Liam Buchanan and the boy has pulled him down in the box. Liam was about to pull the trigger."
