Alloa Athletic 1-1 Greenock Morton

  • Published

Morton squandered the chance to go third in the Scottish Championship after Alloa scored a late equaliser to salvage a point.

Markus Fjortoft had put the visitors ahead with a close-range header.

But substitute Robert Thomson levelled matters to move them a three points clear of bottom-of-the-table Arbroath, albeit having played a game more.

Morton were left to rue a missed chance from Kalvin Orsi as they remained fifth in the table.

Alloa manager Peter Grant: "The boys kept going and showed guts. And could've gone on to win it. But I still look at it as two points dropped."

Greenock Morton manager Anton McElhone: "I think we deservedly could have taken three points. We want to win more games, but you take it on the chin and you move onto the next match."
