Barrow's home game with Exeter was called off an hour before the scheduled 18:30 GMT kick-off

Exeter City boss Matt Taylor had "no complaints" about the late postponement of his side's League Two game at Barrow - despite their "huge wasted journey".

Tuesday's match was called off because of a frozen pitch an hour before kick-off after several earlier inspections.

Barrow covered the surface, hired heaters and brought kick-off forward to 18:30 GMT to try to get the game on.

"They were as desperate as us to play," said Taylor, whose side had a 660-mile round trip from south Devon to Cumbria.

"There's no complaints whatsoever from us. It's just unfortunate on both teams' part. There's certain things you can control, but the weather isn't one of them.

"It's a huge wasted journey on our part. We've been going all day - but it's not the fault of Barrow or their staff.

"They've had the heaters on, the covers on, they've done everything they can to get this game on."

The match was one of three in League Two to fall victim to the freezing conditions, with Carlisle's home game against Leyton Orient called off despite being moved to a 14:30 start and Bradford's trip to Scunthorpe abandoned after 30 minutes because of heavy snow.

Barrow boss Michael Jolley was frustrated at having a second game in a fortnight postponed at short notice, after their home fixture with his former club Grimsby was also lost to the weather.

"We're all frustrated. Everyone wanted to play the game of course," he said. "When games keep getting cancelled it makes things tough but we've no complaints.

"Credit to all the ground staff here. They'd worked so hard over the past 48 hours to get this game on.

"Ultimately, though, the temperature has conspired against us and the referee has deemed that the pitch was unfit to play on. Honestly, I think the referee has made the right decision."
