Port Vale 2-1 Newport County
- Published
Newport County missed the chance to close the gap on League Two's top three as they lost at Port Vale.
The hosts got off to the perfect start when David Worrall cut the ball back to Tom Conlon, and the captain's calm finish beat goalkeeper Nick Townsend.
County equalised 10 minutes into the second half as substitute Jake Scrimshaw made an immediate impact.
But Devante Rodney's late strike gave Vale a much-needed win, moving them eight points clear of the bottom two.
