Arbroath have yet to lose in eight games in 2021

Arbroath maintained their remarkable unbeaten start to the year with a narrow Scottish Championship victory against struggling Ayr United.

Michael McKenna's stunning second-half strike was the difference at Somerset Park, as Dick Campbell's side made it eight games without defeat.

They are now in sixth, just three points outside the play-off places with nine games left to play.

Ayr are ninth, four points from the bottom after a third straight loss.
