Queen of the South 2-3 Alloa Athletic: Thrilling win boost survival hopes

  • Published

Alloa Athletic twice came from behind to boost their Scottish Championship survival hopes with a thrilling triumph at nine-man Queen of the South.

Liam Buchanan's 77th-minute strike earned Alloa a first win in six games.

The hosts had led through Dapo Mebude and Euan East, with Innes Murray and Lee Connelly replying before the break.

Ayo Obileye was dismissed in first-half stoppage time for a late lunge and Rhys McCabe followed five minutes from the end following a clash with Murray.

The visitors were awarded a penalty early in the second half but Andy Graham saw his spot-kick saved by Rohan Ferguson.

Bottom club Alloa move within four points of three teams, while Queens drop out of the top four on goal difference.
