Jamie Devitt's first goal for Barrow saw the League Two strugglers come from behind to boost their survival hopes.

Newport took the lead when Scot Bennett's deflected strike from the edge of the area beat Joel Dixon.

Barrow fashioned a fine equaliser on the break, with Scott Quigley jinking inside to strike home.

In a frantic finale, Devitt scored a free-kick against his old club, before Newport's Mickey Demetriou was sent off after picking up a second booking.

Devitt spent the first half of the season on loan at Newport from Blackpool before joining Barrow in January.

Newport manager Michael Flynn said:

"We're our own worst enemies. Second half, the two goals we conceded are farcical and the second one is not something I want to be associated with.

"I've just told them [the players] that turning your back in a wall is criminal... two experienced players as well.

"There's no excuses for that; you can be the best coach or manager in the world, but if your players do that in such an important part of the season they've got to take some responsibility."
