Arbroath 4-0 Ayr United: Dick Campbell's side earn significant Scottish Championship win

Arbroath took a significant step towards Scottish Championship safety after thrashing Ayr United 4-0 at Gayfield.
Only goal difference was keeping Dick Campbell's men out of the relegation play-off place at the start of the day.
But goals in the opening 27 minutes by Ricky Little, Ben Williamson, and Jack Hamilton had them in control.
Another after the break by Dale Hilson clinched the win, moved them above Ayr, and ensured they cannot finish bottom.
The Angus side are up to seventh with two matches remaining after taking seven points from the last nine.
They are three points clear of the play-off place - albeit having played a game more - and Ayr are eighth after failing to win in their last six.
David Hopkin's side are a point above second bottom Morton, who have a game in hand.
Arbroath manager Dick Campbell: "It was as good a game as we've played all season. The players were magnificent. We played some wonderful stuff."
Ayr United manager David Hopkin: "Once you cross the white line you have to put your foot in, header things and defend. We didn't do any of those. I don't know if they know the consequences of it if this continues.
"It wasn't even a competitive game. We have to do better."
