Dumbarton are well placed to retain their League 1 status after coming from behind to win 3-1 at Edinburgh City in the first leg of the play-off final.

Robbie McIntyre fired the hosts in front on the cusp of half-time.

However, Ross Forbes inspired the fightback, setting up all three of the Sons' second-half goals

Ryan McGeever glanced home a curling cross, Tomas Brindley slammed in a rebound and Morgyn Neill added an emphatic late header.

Man-of-the-match Dumbarton's Ross Forbes talking to BBC Alba: "It was a bit disappointing to concede just before half-time but we stuck in and fought right until the end.

"It's pleasing to get the win but we know the job is not done yet. It was a tough game tonight. Edinburgh City are a tough team, they play really good football. They will throw everything at us on Thursday."
