Shrewsbury Town have signed Bristol Rovers left-back Luke Leahy.

The 28-year-old, who can also play at wing-back, joins the League One club on a two-year deal as Steve Cotterill's first signing of the summer.

Cotterill released 12 players last week following an end-of-season clear-out.

Leahy was part of the Rovers side relegated to League Two after finishing bottom of League One, but he was top scorer with 10 goals, four assists and a shot accuracy rate of 60%.

Cotterill, who still lives in Bristol, told Town's club website:, external "He is a player I've had my eye on for a while.

"He has an eye for a goal and his assists are incredible. He's a great lad and very fit."

Cotterill missed almost the second half of the season after twice being hospitalised with Covid pneumonia.
