Midfielder John Fleck has tested positive for Covid-19 at Scotland's training base in Alicante, Spain.

The 29-year-old Sheffield United player will self-isolate and not travel for Wednesday's friendly against the Netherlands in Portugal.

The Scottish FA says the rest of the squad recorded negative results on Tuesday after being retested.

"We just have to deal with it, as other countries might have to deal with it as well," said manager Steve Clarke.

"John's fine. No symptoms. We'll keep an eye on him, we'll look after him as we do with everybody. Hopefully it stops there.

"Looking at the information we've got and relying on the doctors for the medical opinion we're 99% sure that John brought it into the camp, it came with him.

"John will be in isolation until he returns a couple of negative tests. I'm not quite sure what the guidelines are in Spain in terms of the number of days he will have to isolate for. But we'll be testing every day with John."

Clarke's side have a further friendly, against Luxembourg on Sunday, before their Euro 2020 opener against Czech Republic at Hampden on 14 June.

Fleck, capped five times, is part of a 26-man squad named by Clarke for the delayed finals, Scotland's first major tournament in 23 years.

They flew to Spain four days ago to prepare at the La Finca resort.

Scotland were deprived of key trio Stuart Armstrong, Kieran Tierney and Ryan Christie for the play-off semi-final win over Israel in October after the former tested positive and the two others had to isolate as close contacts.

"In a bad situation we can take some positives," said captain Andy Robertson. "Obviously it is disappointing for Flecky to have to stay in his room but we have followed every protocol and that means there are no close contacts and no other positive results from the three rounds of tests we've done since.

"Luckily, it's happened early enough so he won't miss out on the Euros, but it means we need to be even more careful the closer it gets."
