Blackburn Rovers remain unbeaten away from home in the Championship following a goalless draw against Barnsley at Oakwell.
The home side had more frequent opportunities in an often undistinguished encounter, but have now won only once in eight games - and scored just six goals in the process.
Clarke Oduor burst through in the opening half but was foiled by Thomas Kaminski in a one-on-one and the Rovers keeper also did well to tip over sub Dominic Frieser's second-half header.
Ben Brereton Diaz could have given Blackburn the lead after the break, but Brad Collins was out smartly to block as the Chile international striker tried to lift the ball over him.
The point was enough, though, to lift Rovers up two places to sixth.
Without a win in five going into the game, Barnsley boss Markus Schopp gave midfielder Claudio Gomes his first start since arriving on loan from Manchester City, but he only lasted an hour before being replaced.
The visitors, beaten at Oakwell in the last two seasons, made a promising start but Brereton Diaz saw a shot inadvertently blocked by one of his own team-mates.
Oduor's chance sparked the home side into action and Cauley Woodrow and Callum Brittain tried their luck from outside the box before Michal Helik headed straight at Kaminski from a corner.
The pattern continued following the re-start and Woodrow was off target with an angled shot before Kaminski denied Frieser and Brittain was close with a volley from a left-wing cross.
Barnsley kept plugging away and Callum Styles flashed a shot wide with time running out, but it was Rovers who almost stole all three points when Reda Khadra played in Leighton Clarkson, only for him to shoot straight at Collins.
The Tykes, who reached the play-offs under Valerien Ismael last term, dropped to 19th, just one point above the bottom three.
Barnsley head coach Markus Schopp:
"I think it was not a good game from both sides. It was the third game in a week for us, but I'll not use this as an excuse.
"We had a bit more chances than them, but they were really, really dangerous in the transition moments and we gave too many easy balls away. Fortunately, we defended well.
"It's all about knowing what we have to do better, and we know that we can do a lot better. A couple of players will be coming back next week so the competition will be getting bigger.
"We have to take this point, but we wanted to take more today."
Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray:
"I think if either team had the better opportunities, it was probably us and yet we didn't take them today. We weren't as clinical as we'd like to be.
"The team worked hard and looked organised. It's always a tough place to come to, particularly with the fans back in.
"They flood men forward when they win the ball back in midfield and they've got some good players. Woodrow, with his back to goal, is an exceptionally good player.
"We take the point and we move on. It's four games unbeaten this season away from home. We would like to be sitting here having won 1-0, but we'll take the point and look forward to Cardiff next week."
