Arbroath continued their fine start to the season as they earned a third Scottish Championship win in a row away at Queen of the South.

Thomas O'Brien opened the scoring as he headed in Nicky Low's corner kick early in the first half.

David Gold was then dismissed for the visitors after bringing down Lee Connelly as the striker was through on goal.

But Joel Nouble's header 10 minutes from time clinched the win.

The result means that Arbroath remain in third, three points off top of the league Inverness Caledonian Thistlle, while Queen of the South drop to seventh.

Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston: "We knew it was going to be a tough game and you can see why they're doing so well because they don't concede many chances. We weren't clinical enough but we've got to make sure we defend better."

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell: "I'm absolutely delighted, no goals against, four victories on the trot (in all competitions), fourteen goals for. Defensively we're really strong, today they had more of the ball but my keeper's not had a save to make. Nouble's goal was just world class!"
