Ayr United 0-0 Greenock Morton: Points shared at Somerset Park

  • Published

Ayr United stay unbeaten under interim manager Jim Duffy after a goalless Scottish Championship draw with Morton.

The point for the Greenock side stemmed a run of four recent league defeats.

Gozie Ugwu was the visitors' biggest threat, with his half-volley from 30 yards nearly catching out Charlie Albinson, before a diving header that drifted wide after the break.

James Maxwell nearly snatched it for the hosts near the end but his shot from a tight angle clipped the bar.

He had earlier replaced winger Daire O'Connor, who suffered a dislocated shoulder just before half-time.

Ayr United interim manager Jim Duffy: "I'm enjoying it [interim manager role] and I'll be in on Monday unless told otherwise. It's up to the chairman and board to decide what direction they want to go in."

Morton manager Gus MacPherson: "We take it. It was a difficult game, but if you come away from home and keep a clean sheet you've got to be happy. It's a transitional period in the club and it's going to take a while for it to click."
