Michael Gardyne's late goal moved Inverness Caledonian Thistle three points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship as Queen of the South lost in the Highlands.
The veteran forward struck with nine minutes left to play after being set up by Robbie Deas.
Sean Welsh's free-kick had given Billy Dodds' side the lead in the first half.
But Lee Connelly briefly brought the visitors level in the second period with an angled shot.
Allan Johnston's team are seventh in the division, a point above second bottom.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle head coach Billy Dodds: "We had to work for it but I thought our attitude was fantastic. My experienced players came up trumps. Sean Welsh with a brilliant free kick and Michael Gardyne with a great finish."
Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston: "The least we should have come away with was a point with the way we played, especially in the second half so we are a little bit frustrated. We have to make sure we learn from that."
