Murray Wallace headed in a late winner as Millwall won at Barnsley to stretch their unbeaten league run to seven matches.
With a stalemate looming, the Scottish defender rose to meet namesake Jed Wallace's corner and condemn the Tykes to a third successive defeat.
Millwall had the better chances, but goalkeeper Brad Collins and defender Liam Kitching impressed for the hosts.
The Lions left it late but they finally sealed their first away league win of the season.
Both sides started the match brightly, with Aaron Leya Iseka seeing an early effort tipped wide by Millwall keeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
Not to be outdone, Collins made a double save at the other end from Sheyi Ojo's left-footed strike and Murray Wallace's follow-up.
Devante Cole and Leya Iseka initially looked menacing for Barnsley but Millwall went on to create the better chances.
Kitching's tackle prevented a chance for Jed Wallace and Collins saved from former Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw, brought off the bench by Millwall.
Dominik Frieser's flicked header found the side-netting in Barnsley's last big chance, before Millwall snatched victory in the closing minutes.
It is the first time since January that Barnsley have lost three in a row, and they are now without a league win in nine matches, their worst form in almost two years.
Barnsley head coach Markus Schopp told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We're really disappointed right now. When you lose a game in this way, it's always a hard one.
"In the second half, they were getting more direct and we were defending in a good way, but we didn't have any situation where we get into their last third really easily.
"We have a big need for success in the sense that we need something for the lads, so that they get more confidence. I think they are trying to put it all out on the pitch."
Millwall manager Gary Rowett told BBC London 94.9:
"I thought on the whole we were pretty good - certainly the better side. We had some big moments in the game, we just needed that final action.
"Little moments turn games and set pieces have been a big factor. It was a fantastic header from Muzza [Murray Wallace], who's been superb for us. He comes up with big moments.
"It was a great way to win a game that looked as though it wasn't going to be the three points we hoped for."
