Queen of the South 1-0 Dunfermline Athletic: Fourth goal in five for Lee Connelly
- Published
Lee Connelly's fourth goal in five games earned Queen of the South victory over rock-bottom Dunfermline.
Chances were at a premium in a poor first half, though Connelly had the best opportunity when he fired narrowly wide.
Max Johnston blazed a shot over and Alex Cooper had a shot parried as Queens threatened more.
Dunfermline's Kevin O'Hara's had a goal ruled out for offside before Connelly snatched the winner.
The result leaves Dunfermline a point adrift at the bottom of the Championship without a league win, intensifying the pressure on boss Peter Grant.
Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston said: "I think if there was going to be a winner, it was going to be us.
"We did more than enough to get something from the game and I don't think they caused us any problems at all. We defended well and looked like we were going to get the goal, and thankfully we did with a wee bit of magic from Lee Connelly."
Dunfermline manager Peter Grant told BBC Scotland: "It was a really disappointing performance, I thought the first half was abysmal if I'm being honest, there's no getting away from that.
"We were a bit better in the second half but that's all I can say on the performance. I'm the Manager here at this moment in time and obviously I know the consequences if you don't win matches of football.
