Arbroath passed up the chance of moving into a play-off spot after being held by Ayr United in the Scottish Championship.
Michael McKenna gave Dick Campbell's hosts the lead 11 minutes after the break as they looked for a first win in four matches.
However, Jonathan Afolabi's leveller 10 minutes from time earned Ayr a point.
Arbroath stay fifth on goal difference behind Partick Thistle, with Ayr four points behind in sixth.
