Anis Mehmeti scored twice as Wycombe moved up to second place in League One after deservedly beating leaders Plymouth Argyle 3-0 at Home Park.
An entertaining but goalless first hour ended with Sam Vokes giving Wanderers the lead with a powerful drive through Michael Cooper's legs after good build-up work by Mehmeti.
The young Albanian midfielder doubled the lead late on as he blasted home from inside the area after being played in by Brandon Hanlon.
And Mehmeti put the game beyond doubt with a third in the final minute as he coolly curled past Cooper after the ball broke to him in the box.
The loss was a second in as many games for Argyle, who had not lost in their previous 16 League One games dating back to the opening day of the season, and sees Ryan Lowe's side drop to third in the table after Rotherham's 2-0 win at Ipswich.
Wycombe had the better of a first half which was high on action and half-chances but low on real efforts that challenged either goalkeeper.
Mehmeti had an early low effort saved by Cooper while Ryan Hardie went close went close a couple of times for the Pilgrims, for whom the recalled Danny Mayor impressed with some excellent close control that took him into some good positions, but he failed to force David Stockdale into a save.
Vokes almost gave the visitors the lead as he got in front of Brendan Galloway from a high ball, but his weak effort was gathered by a sprawling Cooper.
Argyle went straight up the other end and Galloway went down under an innocuous-looking challenge 20 yards out. The Zimbabwe international was stretchered off in a lot of pain and needed gas and air as he was taken to the changing rooms.
Mehmeti could have put his side in front 10 minutes after the break as he charged down a Cooper clearance, but the ball agonisingly spun over the bar and onto the roof of the net.
Mayor fired another effort wide shortly after before Vokes put Wycombe in front, and for all the hosts' pressure they failed to truly test Stockdale throughout as Mehmeti's late double saw Gareth Ainsworth's side move into the automatic promotion places.
