Hamilton avoided their third Scottish Championship defeat of the season against Partick Thistle after fighting back twice to earn a valuable draw.

The visitors looked sluggish but went ahead on the stroke of half-time thanks to a Scott Tiffoney free-kick.

The hosts levelled when Lewis Mayo's trip on Lewis Smith allowed Andy Ryan to slam in a 55th-minute penalty.

Thistle regained the lead when Zak Rudden tapped in, but Accies responded again with Mihai Popescu's volley.

Having not played a competitive match since 18 December due to Covid and weather issues, Thistle looked more slack than in their previous outing - a 1-0 win at home to Raith Rovers - with the home side looking more threatening for the majority of the first half.

The draw sees Thistle remain fifth and Accies stay sixth. But despite surrendering the lead twice, Ian McCall's side are now six points off Arbroath in top spot and have two games in hand.
