Albert Adomah's goal gave QPR victory at Coventry and boosted their promotion hopes.
Adomah headed home Chris Willock's cross to clinch a fourth consecutive win for the west London side, putting them just two points behind second-placed Bournemouth with a game in hand.
Willock also set up the opening goal for Andre Gray, threading through a clever pass for the on-loan Watford striker, who fired home.
Jordan Shipley hauled the Sky Blues level with a cracking strike from near the edge of the penalty area five minutes into the second half, but Adomah restored Rangers' lead with his second goal of the season.
Play was halted for 12 minutes after Shipley's equaliser because a supporter in one of the home stands required medical attention.
The hosts created further chances, with Viktor Gyokeres shooting wide and R's goalkeeper David Marshall producing a number of saves before Adomah secured the points.
QPR remain fourth in the Championship table and are the only team in the division to have scored in all their away league matches this season.
And they have won both their games since the loss of two of their key players, midfielder Ilias Chair and keeper Seny Dieng, who are involved in the Africa Cup of Nations for Morocco and Senegal respectively.
Coventry, meanwhile, stay in 10th spot after a third consecutive home defeat, seven points outside the top six.
Coventry manager Mark Robins:
"Got away with one, didn't they? We've got to find a way to get a result against teams at the top of the table.
"We had good chances and loads of opportunities in the final third which we didn't take apart from a brilliant goal from Jordan Shipley.
"The lads have been fantastic, got to a really high level, and even if we drew the game we'd be thinking 'how have we not won it?' But to lose it is a right kick in the teeth.
"We had enough chances to go on and score a second and maybe even a third."
QPR manager Mark Warburton:
"We lacked energy and intensity about our play today.
"You can talk all you like about formations and tactics, but the simple fact is we lost too many duels and didn't get tight to our opponent, but take nothing away from the players, they found a way.
"The players deserve a lot of credit but let's be honest, we've been on the other end of that, played outstandingly well and come away with nothing.
"You've got to come to these places when you're not at your best and have to win those games or emerge with a point."
