Partick Thistle 1-0 Dunfermline Athletic: Fifers need to better Ayr result on final day

  • Published

Dunfermline Athletic need to better Ayr United's result on the final day of the season to avoid the Scottish Championship relegation play-off after falling to defeat at Partick Thistle.

Ross Docherty's winner consigned the Fifers to a 14th league loss.

And, although they can no longer finish bottom after Queen of the South drew with Ayr, they now trail the latter by a point with one game left.

Dunfermline host relegated Queens on Friday, while Ayr welcome Thistle.

Ian McCall's side have effectively clinched the final promotion play-off place as they are still three points clear of fifth-placed Raith Rovers - with a far superior goal difference - and one game to go.
