Daniel Johnson's double gave Preston the points in the Championship at already-relegated Barnsley.

Aiden Marsh gave the home side the lead when he in volleyed from Victor Adeboyejo's cutback - a first goal for the promising youngster.

But after that it was Preston who made the better chances and were level a few minutes later after Emil Riis Jakobsen played in Johnson to score in the bottom right corner.

Johnson repeated the trick with an even better strike into the same side of the goal 10 minutes into the second half.

And Riis Jakobsen made the game safe when he scored his 19th goal of the season, finishing from a tight angle.

With Barnsley already resigned to League One football next term and Preston in mid-table, there was little to play for in the penultimate game of the league season at Oakwell.

Preston created the better chances after their equaliser with Ben Whiteman hitting the bar just before the break and Jack Walton pushing Patrick Bauer's header past the post.

The visitors should have added a third when Jakobsen side-footed his effort straight at Walton after being played in by Cameron Archer.

Preston used the match to mark Gentry Day, an annual event organised by the fans to remember any North End follower or player who has passed away in the previous 12 months.
